Blair Richardson
Blair is married, with two grown children, and four grandsons. He and Sharon have been living in Oakville, Ontario, since 1994. Blair retired in 2003, after a 30-year career in health care management. He worked in the Maritimes, the West, Ontario and Quebec, and for organizations in the public, not-for-profit, and for-profit sectors. His expertise includes helping organizations assemble and analyze information and make strategic decisions; conducting operational audits or reviews; and managing advocacy, public policy and government relations activities.
Blair has a B. A. from McGill University and a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Alberta. He was a certified health executive, a professional designation awarded by the Canadian College of Health Service Executives.
Blair’s involvement as an adult volunteer in Oakville started with the United Way of Oakville as a member of the Allocations Committee. He is a member of St. Jude’s Anglican Church in Oakville and served on the Parish Council for six years. As Chair of Justice and Servant ministry, he initiated a food ministry, in collaboration with three local social service agencies. From 2005-2014, Blair was a volunteer with Food For Life as a weekend driver and from 2006-2014, served as Board Chairman. During his tenure, FFL won a “Top Pick” award from Charity Intelligence and was awarded accredited status by Imagine Canada, under their new national accreditation program for not for profit organizations. Blair led a local group of volunteers who brought Homeward Bound, a very successful program which helps single mothers at risk of homelessness to earn a college diploma and find permanent employment, to Halton Region in 2014. (This program is now managed by Home Suite Hope.) Blair has taught board governance, as part of a program offered by the Canadian Board Diversity Council in Toronto.
Blair is currently Chairperson, Justice and Servant Ministries, at his church, St. Jude’s, which oversees a group of community outreach programs and an annual grants program supporting a number of community partners. St. Jude’s has nearly 100 volunteers who are involved in one or more outreach programs.
