
Saturday, June 21st’s NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY GALA, presented by Debwewin Oakville, the Truth Project, will feature the Eastern Canadian Premiere of SWEET SUMMER POW WOW at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. This special Gala event includes Indigenous dancers/drumming outside theatre, and a Mocktail After Party for VIP Guests.
A young Indigenous couple get a break from their troubled lives when they find each other through a summer of love on the Pow-Wow circuit. This screening is accompanied by an outdoor performance by Indigenous Drummer Franklyn McNaughton, Beaver Clan of The Onondoga Nation, as well as Anishnaabe Ojibwe and Onondaga Dancer, Kiera Chianne, from the Eagle Clan, who has been dancing at Pow Wows for 16 years.
